macOS Catalina Broke Anaconda
· 1 min read
If you, like me, depend on Anaconda for your data science needs, you would have got a surprise when you upgraded from macOS Mojave.
macOS Catalina introduced a new directory tree to accommodate Apple’s new security policies. One consequence is that 3rd party software are no longer allowed onto the root folder.
After upgrading, any errant files are moved into Previously Relocated Items
directories. This is where my installation was moved to and broken:
/System/Volumes/Data/Users/Shared/Previously Relocated Items/Security/anaconda3/...
and
/Users/Shared/Previously Relocated Items/Security/anaconda3/...
sheesh!
This is a known issue, of course….
